Veterinary Emergency/ICU Department Manager

Pet+E.R. in Towson is seeking an Emergency/ICU Department Manager for our Towson location who will oversee our team of veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants. Interested candidates should possess strong leadership and collaborative skills, conflict resolution skills, organization, time management, strong veterinary technical knowledge and be able to successfully manage a team of 30-40 employees. Job duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Hiring and training of new technicians
  • Establishing and executing training protocols
  • Preparing monthly schedule/on-call schedule
  • Provide guidance and direction to staff, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance
  • Mediate interpersonal issues and address concerns up to and including disciplinary action
  • Conduct quarterly one-on-one meetings with team to discuss any concerns or areas of improvement on the part of the individual as well as the hospital itself
  • Skilled in all technical areas including but not limited to: daily care of critical and stable patients, triage, perform CPR on crashing patients, medication administration (all routes), drug calculations, IV catheter placement, Blood draws, running lab samples, Doppler blood pressures, central line placement, CVP measurement, NG tube placement, nasal oxygen line placement, urinary catheter placement, perform digital radiographs, reading of blood smears, urine and fecal slides, as well as anesthesia monitoring and assist doctor during procedure
  • Perform regular training sessions with team to ensure advancement of individuals skills
  • Routinely update training manual to ensure that procedures as protocols are up to date with current standards in the field
  • Attend weekly meeting with Towson leadership team- on-site Towson
  • Attend monthly meetings with entire Pet+E.R. leadership- Towson & Columbia
  • Collaborate with Technical Nurse Manager in Columbia location to standardize training protocols across the organization
  • Collaborate with members of CVRC management to optimize care of their patients

RVT/CVT/LVT required.

Management experience required.
